South Yorkshire Police have praised the actions of a team of quick thinking employees from Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions.
Last week a road traffic collision occurred on a busy A-road near Sheffield city centre, close to where Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions operatives Dave Hart, John Anderson, Willie Harkin and Dave Hunt were carrying out mains replacement works on behalf of Yorkshire Water.
Thankfully no one was seriously injured in the accident, however with the morning rush hour traffic building up, the damaged and immovable vehicle was blocking the carriageway, leading to considerable delays to drivers coming in and out of the city.
Dave and the rest of the team quickly jumped into action to assist the struggling recovery agent, using their JCB to help safely load the damaged vehicle onto the back of the recovery truck.
South Yorkshire Police were extremely impressed with the team’s actions, writing to Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions’ Managing Director, Mike Sparrow, to show their appreciation and thanks for their efforts:
“The team were quick to note that the damaged vehicle was causing disruption and offered to help. These actions greatly reduced the amount of time spent in recovering the vehicle and helped both the public and the police to resume. I would be grateful if you would ensure that the team is thanked for their efforts.”
