Meet John

John applied for the BBUS graduate scheme to gain 12 months hands on experience as a Design Engineer. He has been given the opportunity to shadow some of our senior designers and produce CAD drawing plans and feasibility reports, for site contracts in four placements around the UK.

"The scheme has helped me develop all-round skills to kick start my career. The placements so far have allowed me to develop skills in CAD drawing and various computer systems.

One contract that I was most proud to be involved in, was a new housing project in Garstang, where we had to design a wastewater system that joined the existing mains. Working here has given me a real insight into just how many things which we take for granted, are carefully designed, constructed and maintained, such as wastewater systems and fresh water supplies to our homes."
