Left: BBUS seeks out engineers of the future
Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions’ (BBUS) Recruitment Team took part in an ‘Imagineering Fair’ during November, in a further bid to encourage young people to join the utilities industry.
The two day event, held at the Richoh Arena in Coventry, was attended by a number of different businesses who each ran an individual stand, providing a variety of activities and information for guests.
BBUS worked alongside Energy Utility Skills to run a stand which included a whole host of games and activities, including a quiz about gas, water and electricity, with a top prize of an ipod, a giant Connect 4 game and a PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) race.
The event was organized by the Imagineering Foundation, a registered charity run by Engineers which has close links with children in the area and works to teach young people about the possibilities open to them in the Engineering industry.
Spanning across 6,000 square meters, the fair incorporated participants such as Amec, Morgan Est and the NG Electricity Alliances and was attended by around 10,000 people.
Lucie Hannon, Recruitment Manager for BBUS said: "The day was a huge success. It was great to have the opportunity to engage with young people and to answer their questions about the career opportunities within our industry. I was extremely pleased with our stand as it was really interactive and gave the children lots of things to do whilst their parents had the chance to find out a bit more about BBUS and what the company could offer in them in the future."
