Colleagues from BBUS and Yorkshire Water (YW) put smiles on local children’s faces recently, after building a prayer garden at a school in Goldthorpe, Rotherham.
BBUS and YW work together to maintain and upgrade the water network throughout the Yorkshire area, and involvement in the local community is an important part of each project.
The team visited the Sacred Heart Catholic School following a letter from the class asking for help to create a place to enjoy some peace and quiet when praying. The team completed the project in three days, creating a peaceful sanctuary which has proved extremely popular with the children.
Julia Kilroy, Deputy Head Teacher at the school said: "It is so wonderful to see the children's faces when they are in the garden. It has given them a place of tranquillity and they have already taken ownership of sweeping the gravel and tending to the plants."
The team built the garden during school holidays, avoiding disruption to the children and teachers, and giving the children something to look forward to on their return to school.
Craig Repton, BBUS Regional Manager for Yorkshire said: "We always do what we can to give something back to the community and the team really enjoyed building a special place for the children of Sacred Heart."
