The Alliance was formed in 2005 to deliver a collaborative working culture, with both partners involved at every stage of the programme, from design to construction. The fully integrated team is driven by the same goals and common objectives, with performance aligned to regulatory targets and Key Performance Indicators.
The Alliance began implementing a programme of gas mains replacement, replacing 395km of old gas pipes and renewing 38,000 service pipes in year one. The Alliance has increased performance efficiencies year on year and in May 2009, the team broke all previous records set by any of the four National Grid gas alliances, replacing 540km or mains in its fourth year.
The partnership targets the removal of the programmed length of mains during the construction year, on time and to budget, with new assets built to a design which lasts. Customer satisfaction is also a key focus and our dedicated Customer Service team ensures we are responsive to the needs of our customers and that all contacts are resolved within the agreed timescale.
The team in committed to driving continuous improvements across all areas of the business, delivering the programme safely, with zero injuries and incidents across all activities. The partnership also allows us to develop innovative ways of working as well as providing an opportunity to share best practice between partners and other National Grid alliances.
