Cabling Scheme Development Engineer (1820)

Electricity Alliance - East Overhead Line & Cables

Reports to: Development Manager

Location: Rugby

Key purpose:

To identify and review design options and scope for underground EHV Cabling schemes establishing:

Specific Responsibilities:

Identify design and construction options and carry out design feasibility studies on each option to identify the preferred option
Ensure the option development process considers a broad range of issues and design criteria on site to ensure that major risks and constraints are exposed to inform the selection process
Prepare detailed scope and design specification for the preferred option, also drawings management, risk mitigation, and technical assurance confirmation
Organise site surveys, consenting and condition surveys as part of the development process to ensure safety by design and timely replacement actions.
To carry out the role of Designer within CDM and ensure that CDM policy and practice is a priority by ensuring safety by design
To prepare outline investment cost estimates for sanction
To identify any land, consent or planning issues associated with each option
Prepare an overall programme both for the delivery of the detailed project design and for construction on site
Identify opportunities for innovation in methods and/or materials used

Background and Experience:

Qualifications

General Experience

Minimum of 3 years experience in design and/or delivery of EHV underground cabling schemes
Demonstrated successful capability in Cabling Projects (People, Financial, Change management, commercial, communication and negotiation skills)
Track record of developing working relationships quickly and effectively

Specific experience required for this role

Strong experience of delivering engineering solutions to electrical engineering projects.
